I would always mention that key whenever someone did the alt-f4 tirck. Half the time it got the person trying to trick others.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Means to privately connect to my home server other than Tailscale?English
2·6 days agoWe have had success with this on port 443 and it appears to do a good job on networks that only allow browsing. Usual problems with TCP based VPN still apply.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Quiet Decision Microsoft Made That Devastated Thousands of NonprofitsEnglish
8·10 days agoI saw this on a few sysadmin posts, from what I saw and what people described I have a theory that it was an unexpected interaction.
Those with the deletion had a expiration date for the donation licenses past the July '26 deadline. That shouldn’t have happened as far as I can tell from the notification email. We had some of these, but I think the difference was the presence of other licenses.
Those with only the 10 donations and none of the other free licenses, would have become unlicensed when they were removed. There is a cool off for deletions, but if the licence had the wrong expiration, then the deadline date might have been set from the original expiration. Due to the incorrect extension that date might then have been in the past. Leading to the wrong deletions.
I have no way to confirm any of that and ms are not going to admit it. I don’t think it was malicious, but is still a appalling show from Microsoft.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•This Avocado Oil that claims to be “0 Calories” 🙄English
1·13 days agoI’ve told people that it’s a percentage but they have a hard time understanding that and insisted on doing it from the serving size still.

9·1 month agoIt was great when I first got it, but I ended but getting fatigued with it. New releases wanted time investment, but the rising costs meant I felt I should play more stuff. In the end everything I wanted to play required time and I felt that I was no longer getting value out of it. It would have cost less to not have it and just buy the game for some titles.
Remember that white goods typically have longer warranties, so don’t forget to use it if needed! After I convinced my parents to do it, the tech said it was a design issue and ended up replacing the heater with a larger one (I didn’t even know they had them.)
I am the only one that does not have this issue? I run a nail along the surface, then you can tell which way the tape is by the direction of the bump.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Software bloat? This elevator needs an 8GB Core i5English
5·1 month agoLow powered stuff probably requires more Dev or specialist software, with a off the shelf mini pc you can just put windows with kiosk mode on it. In terms of support time it’s probably cheaper than cheaper hardware.
Only 3, but I don’t know some of the brands so not sure if they own other stuff I do. Probably safer to assume all brands are unless proven otherwise.

This is almost certainly the case of dev happening in the live environment.

2·2 months agoFree ones are less common now (no-ip went paid.) Afraiddns is still free but requires regular account logins.
You mean you don’t write it on a piece of paper then place it in a room that is barricaded from the inside, but still accessible by a securius route through the building filled with environmental puzzles and enemies? The barricade should also be convenient to move from inside the room for fast return to your computer.
