Why is it just exposed like that. That seems needlessly dangerous.

I have an HDD at my parents place and manually bring over snapshots when I visit. Off site does not necessarily mean cloud.

If you are using aptitude (apt) it is quite simple: https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/how-to/software/automatic-updates/

If you just want security updates and are fine with the default configs:

# apt install unattended-upgrades

Are the parties young people have nowadays just less wild because everyone has cameras?

I believe so.

Is this why Gen Z thinks hedonism is cringe?

I think part of it might be the (reasonable) fear of being caught and it haunting you forever increasing overthinking. But I think the main reason is excessive access to everything online desensitizing and removing the enicing part of exploring ‘taboo’ stuff. Under that aspect I think, the internet as we have it today has also just reduced curiocity overall.

I think a more significant part though is that sex, drugs and the like are just not that taboo anymore. You are not hooking up as an act of rebelion against your parents if your parents lived hookup culture and are open about it.

And a lot of us are just more lonely/less social which loops back to the original post I guess.

Somehow it was still less bad:

Each black guy you see in this catalog was, in fact, photographed at one point.

Eh, for a toaster it at least makes some sense to have ‘smarts’ for ensuring various types of bread reach the desired crispynes (Lathough none of that needs internet or anything close to 400$ in value). So it would still be more usefull then smart fridge.

You can test that on this site:

I did not know homeassistant could et alarms, that’s so cool!

I feel you, I wanted to buy a B50 for my homelab and was waiting for prices to drop, but …

I don’t know why you are being downvoted. You are right, Syncthing does not support local sync.

Only diet pepsi

We are at $10.20/Galllon (2.30€/L) and I am so happy I do not need a car.

E-Bike? E-Scooter? That’s easier than walking depending on how far away you park.

From the changelog:

Packaging

• Debian Bullseye and Ubuntu Focal packages are no longer built

Are you maybe running Focal?

and allow for frequent updates.

Great! Surge/dynamic pricing for eating out :[.

They even made a whole ass Movie about it.

Yes, especially once you have been informed about it

Does the issue only occour for live photos? If so it might also be an issue with video codecs 🤷‍♂️.

At least they are not using the published password on their account here (I tried).

And of course encrypting the drive the files are on.
