This thread of comments reads like you just now discovered bullshit corporate jobs exists. Welcome to 1985. Some books to help you navigate are: Dealing with people you can not stand, bullshit jobs, almost any work stress self help book, and arguably American Psycho - specifically the movie version but the book is fine. Embrace the 80/20 rule, don’t let perfect be the enemy of good, show solidarity with your fellow workers, and just play the game until you can reach a point to enact change.

They got the trademark as soon as they started marketing their band. They may not have registered the trademark until 2022. Things like trademarks and copyright are implicit to the creator. Registering them just makes it easier for others to find your work and deter infringement and makes filing some paperwork, namely lawsuits, much easier.

Why are people booing? They’re right.

On the flip side, I am genuinely curious how much storage and processing time all the AI slop being uploaded is costing them. Some of that stuff is hours long, and like most videos on YouTube, most people aren’t watching it.

Damn, that’s a good reason

Python has a popular library called “Flask” that uses stringify(). Although, python also has an implementation in its standard library called jason.dumps()

Holy cow! I don’t think I’ve ever met another developer who actually admits to using action script back in the day. Greetings fellow old person!

Does anyone actually IRL disagree with this? The clowns…

I’ve heard both. Personally, I will continue to pronounce it “Jay-Sawn” until I hear a damn good reason for why I should stop.
The Crohns and Colitis foundation must have spent triple on mailers and phone calls than I have ever actually donated. It upsets me because I know how much good that organization does, and it’s upsetting to feel that my donation has contributed none to those efforts. Hopefully I’m wrong, but I’m speaking to how the pestering for more money makes me feel.
That’s a great point! You have a wonderful opportunity here to follow up with these redditors and ask for additional evidence to collaborate their experiences. If it turns out that you are correct, then you could flip the whole medical establishment on its head! Especially if you document your methodology so that other people can come in behind you to verify your results. Be the change you want to see in the world and go from reading research into being the researcher!

My vote is good old fashioned whackaloons.

Yes? My admittedly limited understanding says yes anyway. If Congress budgets $100m for cancer research, then all $100m needs to go to cancer research. But, the executive branch gets some freedom to decide what qualifies as cancer research. Cancer cures? Enhanced treatment? Earlier detection? Prevention? Environmental factors?
I do research into human computer interaction, and I know exactly how I’d hitch my wagon onto this. My research improves the usability of machines used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. BAM! Now my research into virtual buttons qualifies as cancer research.
Now, I would never do that scenario IRL because I have a conscious, but I know how the games like this are played when it comes time to apply for obscure grants that need to go to someone.

I’ll second this treatment. This in combination with conventional medication, therapy, and making active choices in my life to improve my minute to minute experience. You know that stuff that mildly annoys you, but doesn’t bother you enough to actually fix? Fix it ASAP, those experiences built up in me like poison, and I don’t think that I’m that different from the average person. Regardless, weed and hiking was definitely the foundation.

I have to pass through at least 3 to leave my neighborhood. I hate it. I want to cut them down or otherwise destroy them, but I have absolutely no clue how to do it without getting caught and landing myself in jail. I’ve tried to look up a tutorial or guide on tor, but it really is just entirely drug trafficking and honey pots on there.

I don’t think anyone here is arguing. This is just what a complex conversation looks like.
OMG! You are right, he did. How did I miss that? I may go out for drinks later. From my POV, two very evil people who made life substantially harder for many of my friends died today.
I know a lot of people are hoping for Kissenger, and admittedly for good reasons, but I have a personal hang up with Roger Stone.
Someone commented on here the other day that they don’t use anything that uses AI. I had to point out that they were on Lemmy, in a contemporary web browser, connecting to a Linux server running inside of a docker container. I’m still not sure if they understood my point, but I’m glad someone else on here is seeing the ripple effect.
