Kimmel’s interview with James Talarico will be shown on YouTube, the late night host announced
Jimmy Kimmel’s upcoming interview with Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico will not air on ABC, the talk show host announced, citing the network’s legal troubles with Trump’s FCC as the cause.
The late night host shared the news during his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday, beginning by discussing the Texas Senate race in which Talarico is leading Republican Ken Paxton, according to recent polls.
“I will be interviewing James Talarico tomorrow night under unusual circumstances,” Kimmel said, before explaining that the interview will go directly to YouTube and not air on ABC amid the network’s ongoing issues with the FCC.
Same thing happened with Colbert when his show was still on. He got threats from the FCC and had to put the interview on YouTube.
The GOP is terrified of Talarico.
He’s a Christian democrat that has a religious ideology which doesn’t involve shitting on lgbtq and immigrants, and isn’t licking capitalist boots. If he is successful, they stand to lose most of the “moderates” who vote right due to this false assumption that right=christian. If that ever happens, the Republican party in it’s current form is toast.
To paraphrase a quote:
“If the Right become convinced that Christianity is incompatible with conservatism, they will not abandon conservatism; they will abandon Christianity.”
The Right uses religion as a weapon. They believe in it as much as they read their Bibles. They will reject Christ and will worship at the alter of Trump or whomever they believe will allow them to oppress blacks and other “less thans”.
I’m a Christian, and I’m absolutely appalled at what passes for “christianity” in conservative America. Everything seems to be carefully designed to be as anti-christian as possible. There’s none of the love, forgiveness or caring for the needy. It’s all just culture war and resentment. I really hope Talarico can change people’s perception, but I fear that may be a lot to expect from one man.
What I like about Talarico is that he and I think alike when he said the only bad minorities are billionaires.
Dems embracing Christianity rather than rejecting it is how we’re going to get back in the game. You don’t have to believe, you just need to let someone who does believe go have that spiritual argument for you. And you have to just acknowledge that separation of church and state doesn’t exist and never truly has.
I agreed with everything you said, right up till this…
And you have to just acknowledge that separation of church and state doesn’t exist and never truly has.
And Talarico doesn’t agree with you, either…even though he’s Christian. Just because someone is religious, doesn’t mean they can shove religious policies down the rest of our throats.
Churches are absolutely an arm of the political beast of America and always have been, but shouldn’t be, is what I think they meant.
It wasn’t until I’d gotten past my “angst” phase that I finally realized it’s okay to respect Christianity as much as any other world religion (even if that’s no respect at all - just be fair about it).
There are lots of disturbing counter examples, but “love thy neighbor” doesn’t sound so bad. I wouldn’t mind if that was the kind of inseparable idea you’re talking about.
Christianity as a concept, defined by the teachings of jesus, is a kind, accepting, and generous faith. I’m not an expert on religion, but I’m willing to wager that many religions are similar. So long as that religion is helping to give a moral compass to those without one, great! But, inevitably, religion throughout history is twisted to function as a cudgel for the ruling class, and used by the hateful to justify hate.
Sure. Which is why we should judge people on their deeds, not their religion.
Wow that’s a shit take if I ever read one. We need a party for atheists. And church and state should absolutely be separate
He’s acknowledging that it currently does not exist, not whether he thinks it should or should not exist.
And you have to just acknowledge that separation of church and state doesn’t exist and never truly has.
… are we arguing should not, was never supposed to, or should/was supposed to but never actually has? Only one of these can I kind of agree with, sort of.
Blatant 1st amendment violation? Nah. They’ll say that only protects you from being imprisoned. Doesn’t protect you from corrupt corporate overlords being in bed with the mafia boss.
The 1st amendment is limited regarding broadcast television
An interview with a Senate candidate is pretty clearly exactly what the framers had in mind for the first amendment. I can’t think of a more on-the-nose situation of government action that would be more applicable to the first amendment. Congress passed a law to create the FCC.
Congress shall make no law […] abridging the freedom […] of the press
Can’t really get more clearcut than that.
Says nothing about executive orders. Also the founders didn’t mean that at all. -John Roberts soon
Streisand Effect, again.
These guys are morons.
I didn’t even know he was going to interview Talarico, now I do.
I probably wouldn’t have bothered watching it, but now I certainly will and will send it to everyone I know.
YouTube will give them more viewers to be honest.
If voting didn’t work they wouldn’t try this hard to stop you from doing it
Why the fuck won’t they stand up to the fcc. If this was Republicans being denied they’d be throwing a absolute hissy fit. ABC should be suing the FCC not bowing out
the call is coming from inside the house
Because private companies be doing private things as usual. The only corporation who stood up to Trump is the BBC because A) they’re foreign entity and do not answer to Trump and B) they are a public broadcasting company who answer to the public.
Isn’t Authoritarian bullshit fun?

Kimmel should just promise everyone $10k if Democrats win the midterm election.
Two nickels is not a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.
More freedom for you

Lol. Haven’t they learned not to fuck with the mouse?
At least these online sources haven’t blocked Dems yet, can’t wait for orange to, “Slam youtube and demand they ban the radical Jimmy K!”
The orange one slammed,
Ban radical Jimmy k!
And the sheep complied
He doesn’t need to demand too hard. Google renamed lake Ontario in Google maps less than 5 min after he signed the bill.
No way Frump gets YouTube to make changes considering his pedo podcaster pundits make a killing off of the platform.
Land of the brave,
home of the free.Coward
Kimmel? Him doing this will get it front of more eyes. Even if he had defied the FCC, it would have given the right wing controlled broadcast media outlets a basis to simply silence the message by not airing it.
I meant cowards, plural, as in ABC.
